Chronic Fatigue

If you always feel drained and exhausted, you may be suffering from chronic fatigue. Chronic fatigue is not a disease but rather a consequence of various conditions – physical, psychological, and emotional. Some cases are obvious, such as anemia, high blood pressure, heart or lung disease, insomnia, or even a stressful work environment. Other cases are not so clear, and may be the result of insulin resistance, hidden food allergies, hormonal imbalances, environmental toxin exposure, anxiety, dysbiosis, or chronic viral, bacterial, or fungal infection.Since treating the root causes of symptoms – and not just the symptoms themselves – is integral to my practice, I always look for the cause of chronic fatigue in my patients. This might require some medical detective work, as many of the causes of chronic fatigue are inconspicuous and frequently missed. Some patients may actually end up in a psychiatrist’s office, very often they are told that “it’s all in your head” – but in my practice, I listen to patients, ask questions, and offer tangible solutions and treatment.
